Go onto the library website and use the online booking form (which can be found under "Information for Faculty", and then under "Library Instruction").

Or, if they're a little old-fashioned (and you can tell), suggest they email me or phone me at 5198.

MS Office 2007 in the College

Microsoft Office 2007 Suite will be installed in the labs at both campuses for the start of the 2007 Fall Semester. This is scheduled to start after the Summer Term final exams and includes the Library and Learning Center.

With MS Office 2007 comes a new document format and file extension that affects current MS Office 2003 applications used in the College such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint. A converter is available that allows MS Office 2003 applications to read MS Office 2007 documents. The converter is being evaluated at this time. CEIT is planning for an automated roll-out of the converter before installation of MS Office 2007 in the labs and in advance of the software being made available for home use in the Bookstore.

Re-allocated PCs (coming out of the labs to replace aging PCs) will be re-imaged and will continue to have as a default MS Office 2003.

Roll-out to admin/support staff will occur on as requested basis and in subsequent PC re-allocations. E-classrooms will continue to operate with MS Office 2003 with the converter installed to read MS Office 2007 documents. E-classrooms will receive MS Office 2007 in the Winter 2008 term.

Documentation material that highlights the differences and new features of the various applications will be prepared over the coming weeks and be available on the CEIT web site via the Douglas College Web site at (http://www.douglascollege.ca/)

Additional MS Office 2007 information bulletins will be distributed via GroupWise and myDouglas.

If you have questions about the roll-out of MS Office 2007 in preparation for the Fall term, please feel free to contact the HelpDesk at 604.527.5330 or helpdesk@douglas.bc.ca
