Alumni Borrowers

We have a new category of borrowers--Douglas College Alumni. Alumni are defined as those having graduated from a program of any length, or have taken 30 credits in general studies.
The Alumni Officer will be attending every graduation offering graduates the opportunity to have their Alumni Identification cards made. Past graduates may also call the Alumni office at 6171 to make an appointment to have a card made. The Alumni page on the College website will be updated soon, once it is you can refer graduates to the information there.
The Alumni cards are their library cards and must be presented to register and borrow with us. They look exactly like students cards but clearly say "ALUMNI". The cards do not expire, but their patron record will still need to be updated at the end of each semester. Alumni have the same privileges as Reciprocal Borrowers (5 items at a time, AV Software only used in the library, intercampus transfer of available material only).
For a more detailed explanation of services, please the new PType 8 guidelines, attached. I'll send a photocopy of a sample Alumni card around to the circulation staff at both campuses.
Feel free to ask Cathy or I if you have any questions.

Wireless at Coquitlam

At Coquitlam the wireless was not working at full strength. 2 of the 3 pods were not working so people were having difficulty logging in to the net whether they were using their own computers or the library computers.
The Vernier log-in screen should have come up, but didn't. This means the wireless signal was too low to initiate the wireless connection.
The wireless signal can be checked by touching the wireless icon on the bottom of the screen. If it says "too low" then get Systems to check the wireless capacity.
If the Vernier box does not appear, you can also try going to "Start" then "Programs" then "Novell common". Click on "Novell Login" and try to login to the wireless that way.
