No employee printing from student network

Employees cannot use their employee account to print from student pc's. Employees need to print from their employee workstation, which can be set up to print to a student printer.

Ask Me desk NW Library

The Ask Me desk NW Library upstairs will be staffed starting Sept. 11 from 11:00am to 3:00pm each day. I will post the schedule at the circulation and information desks for referral if you are sending students upstairs to find books.
The only exception to the schedule next week will be on Wednesday from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. No one will be scheduled during that time due to the All Staff Meeting.

New Reserve Procedures Fall 2006

Reserve procedures have been updated to ensure that items being placed on reserve adhere to the new copyright laws.
New reserve request forms and a "Reserve Guidelines for Instructors" handout are available at the circulation desk and will soon be available on-line as well. There are four separate reserve request forms: photocopy, book/cd, AV, and electronic.
During the Fall semester please refer faculty inquiring about putting items on reserve to Helen or Nargis. If they are not available Cathy or myself can speak to them. If no one is available please give them the appropriate forms and a copy of Reserve Guidelines for Instructors. Do not accept old reserve forms from previous semesters.
If you have any questions please see Cathy, Donna, Nargis or Helen.
Thanks, Donna

Student Printing

On Tuesday, Sept. 5th, the first day of classes, CEIT will start instituting the limit of 300 pages per student per Semester. Students, when trying to print, should see a message telling them how many pages they have (300 pages), how many pages they have left in their account and how many pages they are intended to print. Students trying to print using the generic login shouldn't be able to print. If they want to print they have to use their Novell Account.
Employees who are using one of the public computers, when printing, will be asked to enter an access code. Apparently you can enter anything and it should work. There is no printing limit for employees using a public computer. Regarding the pay station, it should be ready next week.
Because the limit is going to start on Sept. 5th, we haven't been able to test the new system in the library. Hopefully everything will be working perfectly on the first day of classes. Our experience with printing at the beginning of the semester has often been negative to say the least. Let's hope that the new system will work fine. CEIT has a page with info about printing (http://www.douglas.bc.ca/ceit/students/comp_accounts/print_faq.html). The page is also linked on our home page under, What's new - Important printing information! If students want more information or have complaints, they can contact the help desk.
